How do I treat the bamboo infested with termites please folks?

I already have thought about spraying it with petrol and putting a match to it but that would cause me some grief.

Is there anything in the Philippines that you don't get ripped off when you buy something?

Treat it with clear solignum available at most any hardware store.   If you continue to see termite dust, treat again.  It will take a day or so for the odor to go away.

I have a trusted exterminator that I would use.  He would keep coming back until they are gone.

I have used it and that is nasty stuff.  The exterminators are ignorant of the risk or have already accepted their fate.  I will let them do it.  I'm not sure what they would use.

I'm not sure how well this stuff really works. It is quite expensive.

When our rest house was redone every stick of wood was bathed in the stuff yet a powdery termite residue was noted in 2 weeks.

We have the type of termites that eat away at the insides of the wood leaving the outer "shell" behind. Maybe they aren't termites. IDK.

It works the best as a prevention.  If the termites are already in the wood it takes multiple treatments.  We had to do multiple treatments, three if I remember correctly, when we had some decorative bamboo installed.  There are also beetles here that eat wood so you might have those, but Solignum is supposed to work for those also.

Thanks to everyone for the advice on the termite issue I have, so off to find someone that sells Solignum.

I would have got a pest control person in but knowing my luck of late here in the province, they would have come out and sprayed the thing with water and give me a first visit discount.

Thanks everyone.

totally agree, we experienced exactly the same issues, solignum  worked fine for less than a month, after business as usual, now would never have bamboo near the place.

I have noted that the locals apply used motor oil on wood to help keep the termites at bay. Not sure how well this works either.
