Don't know if it helps, but the Dept of Tourism has extended the 21 day tourist visa to 30 days! Is this a big deal to anyone? Nothing mentioned about the 59 day visa thereafter! http://ph.news.yahoo...ign-slogan.html

Adding 9 days to the entry VISA will be helpful to a few people but I don't see how that alone will increase tourism. It will be interesting to see if there will be any other incentives added during this tourism campaign.

That is a start, now if they will just up the second visa time too, so to allow a person to pay one time for say a six month or one year stay visa, as an option, then that would help a lot of people who are making the Philippines their home.

I have a couple of issues with this- Dept of tourism does not set immigration policy.- I have asked board member Paul Whiteway to clarify as he is at the Dept of immigration in Mandaue City nearly every day arranging extensions. He said he has heard nothing about a change. However,if he does hear something, he will let me know.Regards: Jim

If they made the first 60 days free it would start to be worthwhile to take a trip out of the country every 2 months. I have managed to get flights from Cebu to Hong Kong and back for 3K when they have good specials on.A 30 day free visa just doesn't quite do it though. A step in the right direction, of course. When I travel to Hong Kong they give me 90 days of free visa and it would be fantastic if the Philippines would follow their lead.

Bugger! My stay in 3 days time is for 21 days, I would have loved an extra week.

Just another website saying the same thing about the 30 day visaRemoved Link, the owner of that site is considered unwelcome on this site and we do not exchange links.TomA new 30 day visa is also being introduced which is a good thing but obviously could go a lot further with as many people are permanently here yet struggle to get full-time visas where 6 month visas would work well for many. The 30 day visa though is an improvement on the current 21 day visa and should already be now in place for those arriving in the Philippines. http://newsinfo.inqu...the-philippinesThe new slogan of the Department of Tourism in its campaign to boost the number of foreign visitors to the country, has been met with both acclaim and derision. The leakage of the slogan, “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” in online way before its official launch was welcomed as free publicity for the country by Ramon Jimenez Jr.Tourism officials, however, do not have the luxury of having fun lurking on Twitter or Facebook to gauge public reaction to the reengineered marketing campaign. They need to work double time to finish the construction of the Philippines’ new tourism portal.

Since we're on this subject of the 30 day visa, Taiwan and the Republic of China has a 30 to 90 day exempt-visa rule, but with a catch! Prior to the expiration of the exempt-visa, one has to leave the country, because an additional visa extension is not allowed! http://www.boca.gov....ctNode=116&mp=2
