GregZ Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) I went to http://www.oslobwhalesharks.com/ and find that they have a local price for scuba with the whale sharks of 200 peso, but foreigners cost 500 peso in addition to the tour price. The rest of the tour costs the same. You can also just stay on the boat and not pay the additional to scuba. It looks reasonable; for 4 people pickup at your house, hotel in Cebu City is 2500 including light breakfast & lunch for an 8-10 hour tour including travel. That is IF I read it right! :bash: I was thinking of doing the tour, but now I am waiting for a response from the provider to my 2 questions. 1. Is there a reason for the price difference to scuba for a foreigner other than you think a foreigner has more money to pay for it? 2. Since I have lived in Cebu City for 15 months am I still a foreigner or now considered a local? I'm just curious to see the response. :tiphat: Edit: Upon further reading I found http://avawashere.blogspot.com/2013/03/my-birthday-dare-swim-with-whale-sharks.html where it says at the bottom of the page: 3:00 AM Leave from Cebu City for Oslob Cab to South Bus Terminal (P150)Bus fare to Oslob (P160)6:00 AM Arrive in Oslob Breakfast (P150)7:00 AM Swim with the whale sharks Fees (P500)Snorkeling set (P50)11 AM Leave for Cebu City Lunch (P100)Bus to Cebu City (P160) ------------------ Total 1,260 - Snorkel Set P50?! The FEES were higher according to this article: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/172017/oslob-hikes-fees-for-diving-swimming-with-whale-sharks dated April 2012 It appears the foreigner vs local price is set by the government. Go figure! I guess the problem of too many people stopped so the price went back down. Edited July 26, 2013 by GregZ

Medic Mike Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 I have been trying Google etc, but I can't find anywhere in Cebu that rents small sailboats for bareboat day rentals. Anyone know of anyone that has a day rate for sailboat bareboat rentals??
