Long story but I'll try to make is short. Taxi driver returned my wallet with over 3000 pesos and my USA credit cards. Luckly, the security guard where I was staying takes down taxi name and license plate when leaving and arriving. I didn't notice it until after taxi drove away. I called the  taxi company and gave them the information. I also called my bank in the states and told them. They said they would send me  new cards to my mailing address in the states. In the meantime, I just had a pocket full of coins. I called home and had them send me my credit cards when they arrived. That took almost 2 weeks.

Well, the guard called me a little while later and said the taxi driver was downstairs with my wallet. I expected it to be empty. No, the money was there and so were my credit cards. I gave the driver 1000 pesos and thanked him for his honesty. I gave the security guard another 1000 pesos. The remainder left me with little to live on until my cards arrived. I told everyone about my experience. I was very thankful since I did not know anyone here at the time. My sons sent me money via Western Union but I could not use my credit cards until the new ones arrived.

There is more to the story but I tried to make it short. Too late,  haha, ok.

I don t know if its strange, but how much I feel at home in such simpler times, sitting in the yard around a simple table sharing a red horse or stronger drink, talking and joking with family and friends.

Great answer :th_thbestpost: Strange only in who would have thought you would find true love, happiness and a simple life with a beautiful young woman at a later part of your life far from the US. Well done! :cheersty:  :tiphat:

Jack, at first I also thought my wife was just attempting to kill me until I realized she not only honestly loved me but wanted a baby in the worst way.  :mocking:

OK here is is a strange one... The wife went into the Mercury Drug the other day to buy some Eyemo (saline eye drops). She was told "sorry not in stock" but here is the strange part. She was also told that when they do get in stock it will be a prescription item. Really?? Prescription for Saline solution? This is the same drug store that you can buy antibiotics (Zythromax, etc.) over the counter...SMDH

Speaking of prescriptions, most drugs can be obtained without a prescription.  Antibiotics and pain killers can be had at any pharmacy and Cialis and Viagra, for example, can be obtained from most street corners.  Just don't try to buy Levitra.  MUST have a prescription and it costs an arm and a leg.  That seems strange to me.

There is a little old lady who, along with her daughter - who is older than i am - runs a little candy and cigarette cart just off San Pedro in Davao.  For christmas, somebody gave her a makeup kit.  She now has her face done in blues and purples and seriously looks like a raccoon!  What does her daughter think of this?  I'm not sure - she's too busy dying her silver hair pink with the blush...
