So do I tell him to be a man knowing I shall never see him again or leave and ignore them both,

 

The likely result of telling him 'to be a man', and the other adjectives you would surely use, is first you feel better. Then he gives the sil grief, then they both give your wife grief. End result is you cause more stress for your wife and making yourself more pissed off than you are now. Not saying anything is probably the best move.

 

ps. Not sure that I could take my own advise though. I would sure want to give him a piece of my mind. Good luck.
