Route to Europe is for well off people. It seems that most of you expats don't quite understand the refugee crisis. That scam calling themselves "refugees" are well eating, well housed, well f ing citizens, having big families, entitled to all possible and impossible rights in their home countries who are just frustrated with living in a low gdp economy, hence all the whining about lack of democracy, wars and uprisings. So what they want is to get annual income of 60 k usd instead of 6 or Europe to give them the difference. Another completely different situation is when a person is given a death sentence in his country with the role of executioner given to the mother nature, so that it is no one's crime. Let's admit that everything you have, including your body is still in existence only due to you being given access to the economy of your country (or any other country). As a result of the 1st type refugees being all over headlines, refugees of 2nd type get no help. I was thinking that if Ph had no economy its 100 mln population would have perished. Of course Im not being naive to think that in the meanest times we live in when people fight over food and resources like rats it would be easy to make a living out of any country's economy.

People still live a tribal existence, the sea people and there is a somewhat protected tribe on Mindoro that doesn't want anything to do with modern society. If one went to an place unfrequented by people one could live off the land by primitive means but anywhere near people you would have to farm and raise livestock because just about everything is fair game, be it snakes or sparrows.

Couple of good posts Jack. Of course, they would not line up to get on boats to go to Philippines, as they know that when they got off, they would be just another hungry person (that is provided that the authorities would allow them to land in the fist place).

You should differentiate between hungry and dead. After all expats are coming there not to date corpses. Its not a secret that wars, conflicts today are business projects where investments are made and outcomes are expected. However it is unprecedented in this refugee crisis that cowardly, hypocritical authorities of Europe give in to demands of these people instead of machine gunning them, which they would be glad to do (by the way had that happened in Australia, it would have been done without a doubt). When the refugee legislation was invented more than half a century ago, how a person who would sustain his life in the new country was a secondary question, today in the time of fierce competition for resources its the biggest concern, as a person would more likely to die of hunger in the host country than of persecution in his home country, so it has become irrelevant. We are approaching the final stage of capitalist development where not haves would have to be legitimately eliminated inside their countries because of lack or resources in the times of abundance with more wealth concentrating in the hands of 1% haves. Anyway back to the initial question about options of those betrayed by their countries; as you may have guessed already they are very few, if any.

Mike_56, this is a warning. If you don't stay on topic you may be banned from this thread. If you wish to continue with your refugee opinion please start a new topic in the apropriate place. Once more what you have to say is of interest but your continuing in living cost Philippines is unacceptable. Thank you for understanding. We do want your input but in the appropriate area.

The way I see it this topic is not about living costs and the OP has an agenda which has nothing to do with expats so I am closing this topic before someone gets booted.
