Nah! say what you want I think all is well and I for 1 will stay Jack Arternoon Everyone nearly Beer time The only problem I run into with day to day English is many of my wife's classmates and some of her (our) family are to "shy" to speak English very much. I don't know why that continues after I get the to use English and we can communicate better, I have never laughed at anyone nor put them down for the way they speak English, especially since their English is exponentially better than my Visayan.
RBM Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Guess one of the few not coming here for a Filipina. For me first was the diving closely followed by the weather a big plus being in a semi English speaking country. Like a few here have had second thoughts about staying at times. The kinda dog eat dog mentality which is so prevalent in the cities, doors being let go in one's face and so on. Guess it's a bit of a weigh up, to be honest even at my ripe old age still get a buzz being flirted with by one of those attractive young ladies, ignoring the fact that it's not really me they see but the $$$$. Still a buzz. If one careful life here can be quite inexpensive and enjoyable, just be humble and don't stand out, SM is about a 7th of the price compared to a bar in NZ, now that's a plus.

Dave Hounddriver Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 @Jake and all the members who quoted his post. Please note Moderation of your posts: It was a wonderful joke but its my job to look at all the boobies and delete the pics that show nipples. Its a lot of work so please be careful to post "adsense appropriate" images.

I use to say, "open the light" and "kill the light" when I first arrived in the United States. My new friends made fun of me until I changed to "turn on the light" and "turn off the light". Upon returning to the Philippines, family and friends then made fun of me. So which one is correct?

Neither? I suppose one could say energize the light.
