In the Philippines, Christmas officially starts on September 1st when all radio stations are required to play, "I am dreaming of a White Christmas." by Bing Crosby. Be a humbug. Turn off all exterior lights; use black-out curtains for your windows; and pretend no one is at home. The cardinal rule is, "Give and we will be back tomorrow."

Give and our friends will be over later.  Give and more of us will come back tomorrow.  Don't give and we will hang around and call you names that sound like "cheapskate" so that all the neighbors know you did not give.

So very true where I used to live they brought them in by the lorry load and one after another would come to your house. It does get annoying after a while.
