OzeMike Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 That's the way I should do it book it in through a hospital in Brisbane on Medicare not private then the notification triggers the trip back to Oz. They are tightening up on Health Concession Cards for pensioners though. My new card expires after 6months unless I'm in Australia. I usually get a new pair of glasses on the Queensland Free Spectacles scheme every 2 years but this last trip I was told I had to wait 6 months as my Concession card had just been issued on my return to Oz. This wasn't previously the case. 1

It all adds up to so some minor mobility issues that can and will be fixed. In the meantime why let it affect my mood, demeanor etc? Life is still good with a few little inconveniences that I can live with. No point whinging about stuff that can't be changed in the short-term because whinging is only going to end up in a downward cycle. At age 54 I still have, hopefully, a lot of years and the issues will be resolved well before I'm due to depart this mortal coil, so something else to look forward to in life. The prayer for serenity comes to mind: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Whether anyone is a Christian or not, they're wise words. I've come through a lot worse things in my life than what currently ails me; the current issues are a walk in the park by comparison. OzeMike Posted May 29, 2023 Author Posted May 29, 2023 A health cost thread would be helpful as we age gracefully When my leg/knee is healed I need to see an Urologist here as an ultrasound test in Australia on my recent trip back showed urine retention in the bladder. I was quoted AUD$3k for a private Urologist procedure for relief of a stricture. Urethral dilatation is a procedure to widen the urethra leading from the bladder, to help fully empty the bladder. Wondering what this procedure costs here.
