Popular Post stevewool Posted September 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 9, 2023 In my lifetime I’ve amassed a few good diy tools , some are old but still very good as I always try to look after them and when used I clean them and put them away ready for another day , anyway I thought I would do a bit of maintenance and I needed that extra hight so out comes my small steps that are kept in the house so Emma can reach the top shelves if she has too rather then getting a chair to stand on . Well somethings wrong they won’t open and on taking a closer look one hinge is bent , well after a few bangs here and there and then trying to get it back in it’s runner I’ve fixed it , What’s all that banging Emma came outside and asked what I was doing , well this gave me a chance to ask her did she damage this when she last used them as I know it was not me , No was her answer as I always use a chair to stand on , Ems we agreed that it’s safer to use these rather getting a chair we agreed , well it’s hard to open them and close them she said , so you broke them then I said , that was it a few minutes of back and forth but no sorry from her , just like the broken pans and burnt handles over the years that mysteriously happen , bless her that look on her face tells me she’s trying to hide something , I think Sorry is the hardest word a Filipina can mutter

My wife is quick to scold and slow to accept responsibility for her own mistakes. My keys went missing for a couple of weeks and my wife was nagging at me every day. "Take care", "when did you use them last", etc. etc. Finally she says she found the keys. "Where" I asked. "In one of my bags" she says.

I disagree with the sorry part of your statement. How many times have you heard: Sorry po, no stock. Sorry po, no change. You have smaller? Now on the other hand if you meant saying sorry with sincerity then I’ll agree. Edited September 10, 2023 by Gator 1
hk blues Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Yep, my experience is the same. An apology is not the easiest thing to come by here. Maybe it's as simple as apologising is admitting blame and that can have financial consequences so it's ingrained in the culture not to say sorry.
Popular Post Sea Turtle Posted September 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2023 There is not much forgiveness in this culture. That leads to blame being more important than solutions. That leads to problems being hidden instead of displayed. Most have a long list of sins that others have committed, and none for themself. Took me long to understand that this is a culture thing and not just her and I.

My wife used the handle of the cabinet drawer to get up and reach stuff on a shelf. Of course the handle got bent. Do I need to say that she never admit doing this, hahaha . Maybe the handle was suffering from metal fatigue and bent by itself? 😜 Edited September 10, 2023 by Viking Added picture 1

I might have said "problems being hidden instead of fixed" but your assessment is still spot on. 1
