The upstairs roof is about 125m squared so we went with 4 units which is overkill if you use the 1 unit/150ft squared formula but our roof shape is odd so not really much choice for total coverage.  The spinners were only one size at Citi when we bought them, but a roofing specialist may have other options?  Yes, venting in all rooms including the top of the stairwell.  Just one in each area:  Bedroom, living, office, bathroom and stairwell.  The vents are reasonably small and closeable and similar to this:

I'm glad I wasn't the one that had to be up in the ceiling cavity during the heat of the day removing insulation to size to be able to install them.

Investigate other options as well, or get someone in to check the place out.  Having said that, we're very happy with how our solution worked out for us. YMMV.

Are those vents powered?
