Well said James - and Lee. One thing I have learned in the 4 months that I have been reading and participating in this forum is that it's very easy to be misunderstood and to misunderstand the posts of others in this type of venue. I try not to comment unless it actually contributes something to the dialogue but I guess that's a learning process.I have learned a lot from reading the posts of Mason, Goldheart, Lee and others - housing, banking, immigration, culture, etc. It's been a big help to me in preparing to move there and I'm sure will continue to be. Thanks.

A few opinions here in regards to many forums, and the original post in general (not the general roach under my CR)1- Many times when a poster "beats down a dead horse", he is told to look and use the search function, many times in a condescending manner from a site owner (not here BTW). I can use google and NEVER be part of ANY forum, as the entire answers of the entire world are now at a search. "What's the best way to get money here, plane flights, internet dating stories good food places and what is the best hotel or pension house" can and usually be searched and found anywhere on that site, or even on the net with the words...phillippines best ______, internet dating, cheap asian flights ect. Once a site goes that route, it loses the interchanging and personality ...yes, complete with all those "ugly" differing personalities so many try and run away from when they become expats. I wanted to come to the get together last night joking, and when I was approached, I was going to say "who the hell are all you white guys??...I came to the philippines to GET AWAY from you western people and now I feel like I'm back in the states with all you here..."...in my best grumpy old man voice. :lol:2- ANY site that does not allow advertising, and makes money from certain advertising will suffer from the banning, canning and drama. That is why a free site, bill footed by the one owner works the best, and why the donar system is a good thing if the owner needs a few greenies to keep a well oiled and fun place going. As said by another in a previous post...write a dislaimer, and allow any and all reviews, advertising and the such. Even if Bob did have an interest in that place, do you think any who thought the food was bad, the beer warm (unless you are a UK guy...hahaha) or the service sucked would get a free pass on a review. I know for fact a site that actually uses said site to make money as a prime source of income, and do you think a great sports bar will be allowed to even be named if he was taking a nice headkick from another bar, with so much money that the stipulation was..."don't allow this or that bar to be mentioned anywhere on the site"?? See what happens then? If any person HAS a business...why the feck NOT allow him to post it up...GOD KNOWS how many of us "newbies" would love to hear about a good food place, after all we have the dough to spend, and cut throat business practices begin with this crapped advertising. I am not sure how Cebu works, but in AC or Subic, business is WAY too complicated for me to even consider (I was asked to be a partner in a bikini bar...hahaha, and said no of course...although what a fantasy)...all said, if your only source of income IS the web sites, then you will be in a bad situation, especially if you have a bad personality, get too close with others or take bribes. Hell, I would LOVE to hear about a place or store others recommend, and the posters who do not. But at the very least, allow the name of the PLACE. :lol:3- I don't know if it is the age of many here, or the fact so many come here with "issues"...escaping a past, a hurt, or seen too much...and want a fresh life or whatever. But for the love of God (Obama), lighten the feck up...booze should NOT be the ONLY way to create a happy mind for a few hours, it's ok to laugh even at yourself at times. :lol:

It seems some are getting the wrong idea of what we allow,what we request and how we help other expats with their business or even the fact that we have a links system here to any business Expat or local that might benefit forum readers,we do not charge for this and I have even made banners for free for some members.I will explain this all properly and add some things to the rules and guidelines when I get over my jet lag.We do have to have some sort of order or otherwise every second post will sell you Viagra.

Because we already have some people whose wrong head is swollen, so if they do not swallow fast enough, then we will have more of them.
