Random Acts Of Kindness

Still a little embarrassed even though it happened many years ago.  My wife Judy and I dropped by early one morning in this donut shop to get sobered up with coffee and fresh donuts.  I noticed a middle aged woman waiting at the front entrance, shivering from the cold. I don't know why I took pity on her.  Could have been her clothing or her body language. Anyway, I gave her a couple bucks and immediately got a look that would kill.  She defiantly explained that she was just waiting for her husband to come out and had no desire for any handouts.  I made a fast track back to the car and Judy explained that even our Father has a sense of humor and the joke was on me!  Hey guys -- would love to hear some of your own random acts of kindness.  Jake

Years ago, 30ish., seven years running, our family holidayed in Medoc France.X & sons would go to the beach AM and I and the Gite owner would visit Chateau. He was Cru Bourgeois spokesman to French Gov.I saw a Dutchman I knew working in a vineyard in torrential rain without a rain jacket. That evening the same Dutchman was in the village bar and I gave him my sailing jacket. He was an Alcoholic who lived there for the cheap (free when working) wine. He was visibly moved. The Bar owner/dayJob postman was aghast at my gesture to a "LowLife".NOW --- that reaction made me feel good! and in addition I received 42 "CleanSkins" as gifts from other workers. Some were Magnums from Class Chateau and excellent years I discovered when opened and the cork read.Way outPricing the jacket!!!UK Tom Edited by Singers

Two months ago, I was walking towards the highway when I saw this little girl wearing a uniform of one of the public schools here in Bulacao. Her blouse was too small for her, it showed her tummy. I was on my way to my treatment then and I would be late if I went back. I told her to go to the back of the subdivision and look for me, the bald lady with cancer, and I would give her my daughter's old blouses. Just this morning, that little girl found my place and told my mother what I had told her to do. She went home with three blouses. I told her to come back when she gets to high school and I will give her more blouses.

Hello my Friend,Your random kindness to this "LowLife" also made me feel good. One thing I really like aboutyour posts are the European words like "gite" owner and "cleanskins" that made me research their meanings. I will never stop being edjumacated -- thank you!By the way, do you still have some more of those Magnums?Respectfully -- Jake

Hello Demeter,In spite of your treatment of cancer, you found a way to brighten up the day for this little girl.Like the name implies, you are the Goddess of Harvest of smiles and love that surrounds you.May our Father bless you and your family.Respectfully -- Jake

Many, Many, Many years ago our family would meet up every Christmas at my Sisters place in Central London, the family members would appear from all corners of the UK for this auspicious occasion. I hated it but went along so as not to rock the boat. At that time I lived in a village in the greater London area and had a gun dog by the name of Barney [ yes for those that know me one of my present dogs is also named Barney after him], he disliked London as much as I we both favored the woods and fields of Kent. Anyway, the get together went the same way as all the others, with niggling and picking of old wounds flamed by alcohol, then the odd out burst would break out over a Christmas cracker gift from many years ago. Anyway, the get together went the same way as all the others, with niggling and picking of old wounds flamed by alcohol, then the odd out burst would break out over a Christmas cracker gift from many years ago. In between I'd have to stay vigilante that Barney [ my gun dog not my Uncle Barney] would not pee on the Christmas tree lights, he would hover round the tree like it was the only familiar thing to him in the room. Getting to the point, after the Christmas Dinner, I decided to take my dog for a walk, as was always the case there was plenty of turkey left over so my Mum was already knocking up sandwiches for later. I grabbed some sandwiches put them in some kitchen foil put the dog on the lead and headed out to the streets, it was cold but there was a Christmas spirit in the air or at least in me, there were always homeless guys sleeping in the doorways of the larger stores on Oxford Street so I headed off to hand out some turkey sandwiches, first guy I see is sitting on a folded cardboard box and wrapped in a old sleeping bag, he shakes a tin and says Merry Christmas I hand him the turkey sandwiches, saying "Merry Christmas mate, here's some turkey sandwiches" He says " I don't like Turkey, and if your dog gets any closer I'll kick the Fu**ing thing" well I wasn't expecting to be knighted for handing out some sarnies but I didn't expect that lol. Hi John,Yes -- I can just see that happening in UK ....Kind regards,Tom

Years ago my former wife and I were in Reno Nevada , a gambling town in USA. We were going from casino to casino trying our luck. There are a lot of homeless beggar people asking for money and this trip was no exception. One night we were heading back to the hotel crossing some railroad tracks that run threw town and out of the dark I hear this lady say "please". It was dark and I had to look to see her, she was squatting down with her had out, we just kept walking. After we got home from the trip, I remembered the beggar lady and couldn
