Hiya: I arrived here on the 14 of April, my wife stayed in Las Vegas, doing her home nursing aid work. My InLaws picked me up at the airport, and we spent the night at our small house in Caloocan City, Manilla. We bought a X Trail 4x4 last december, so this is our vehicle. Upon arriving home in Morong, "by Subic Bay", i noticed that my boxes had the rope removed from them, and the boxes had been opened, and then Taped Shut. Thinking at first, that there might be rocks or sand inside, i was kind of afraid. heheheThere was a white note from Customs: "Your baggage has been randomly selected for inspection, thank you for your understanding and cooperation". Inside the boxes were 3 other boxes, one with my PC, one with the Monitor, and one with a new Printer. All were the original boxes that they came in from the store. I paid $0, and nothing happened.thumbs-up-smile.gif The next several days were spent getting things set up. I used my didgital camera and took a faceshot, made it into 1x1, 1x2, and 2x2 photos. Sisterinlaw in tow, we took the pictures, my birth certificate, marriage certificate, copy of my wifes PI passport & US passport, my passport, "showing Morong Philippines" being listed as my address", and got a certification of residency from the municipalty of morong. We took this document, and all the other stuff to the postmaster, and i got a Postal ID Card. This is exactly the same ID that all/most Philipinos have.Next i went to PNB and opened a Passbook savings account in $. $500 required to open it. If the ballance stays at/over $500, there are no Fee's.. It is $10 a month if it drops below $500. After 6 months, i can get a debit card account. Then off to Smart, and i got my Cell phone, "Billing in my name". It was a 2 year contract, but that is fine, as our AT&T cell phone in America is also a 2 year contract. This now gave me 4 seperate documents showing my address in Morong. "will be needed later for online transactions". Next I got the Internet connection set up. It is so slow It makes the old 14.4 connections look like speedy rabbit hehehehehe. But it works. Then we had the satallite company come over and install the dish, and the connection. Mainly, i wanted it for ESPN, as football starts soon. The picture on most of the channels is close to Cox cable quality back in Las Vegas. Either that, or my "60 flat screen TV is just making it seem better. LOL. It cost $320 to send the TV here from Las Vegas, a little over a year ago. I have the step don converter, and a $120 Surge protector, insuring that it does not blow up.We had to replace all 4 tires on the X trail. In doing so we found out the hard way that the Jack that came with it, was to small. It was not possible to lift the vehicle up high enough to get the flat tire off the ground. I ended up making a Wooden Platform out of 2x3's, and bought a new hydrolic jack. Together, that did the trick.Family time: My sister in law husband, Ray, is a Seaman. He got called back to duty, and left yesterday. So I spent a lot of time with him, and my wifes brother from manilla. This part is not to look down on anybody, or brag, or anything like that, it is just a statement based on my point of view. "Your Family, "Wife, In laws, ect", are way more important to how people here treat you, than You are. There is a Big Difference between the girle in the club that married a american/german, ect, and the Teacher, Nurse, store owner ect, who did the same thing. My Wifes sister and her husband, Sheila an Ray" Know everyone in Morong/subic/olongapo, and they all know me. There is NO resentment, dirty looks, go home yankee, or any thing even close to that. This is a Huge Advantage in living here. We went to the festivilles each sunday so far. Rays Daughter Yen Yen, is one of the partisipants. His realitives visiting here, "for the elections", from all over the world, are organisers for the festiville in Morong town proper this sunday.Work: And lastly, you either to have to have a pension of some sort, or a boatload of money saved up to live here, or anywhere, without working. I am a Internet Gambler. UIGEA, "unlawfull internet gaming enforcement act" signed into law in 2006, and goes into full force next month, makes it really hard to gamble from america, on the internet. It gets harder each day. So, my being here was the test. Can I play? Can I Win? Will I get paid from the Casino if i win? How will i get the money from the casino into my stubby little hands? I knew all the answers before coming here, but my Wife Gloria, wanted to actually see it be done. So, $1000 into Online Casino. Play/Winn. $200 out of Casino, into click2pay, "ie. a internet money transfer company, kind of like Pay Pal". Click2pay accou8nt onto click2pay debit card. Use Debit card at BDO atm machine, and small fee =$200 in my pocket. Done this twice so far, while on top of it, doubling my $1000 deposit. Total time from cash out request, to money in hand is between 30-72 hours.thumbs-up-smile.gif We sent some boxes a few weeks before i left Las Vegas, and am still waiting for them. They have my vcr/dvd recorder, wireless headphone, garden seeds, cd's, and some other stuff i sent. We planted Corn that i brought with me, and it is growing just fine. I have Tomatos, cucumbers, watermellon, honeydew mellon, raddish, carrots, bell peppers, and others. I am just going to plat them all, and see what happens? We used chicken netting as a fence, and at p28 a yard, it only cost p680 to enclose the garden area, to keep the chickens/goats out. This is all for now. Everything is going great............Yay.

Hi Winalot,This IS good news. I am glad things are working out for U2!.If I gambled I would be known as "Loose-a-Lot" and have a diet biscuit named after me. :mocking: I have had ONE win on the horses. I don't understand the rules even but I put $1.50 on a horse, to win, and won $550 on the Tote - 1984 ish - don't understand Tote either. That was at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in UK. I have never gambled since!!My other few wagers were looser's. A Racing tip (I love horses) from the jockey " I'll win this one, Tom" saw "My" horse take the lead from the 2nd. last fence and 6 lenghts ahead at the last it jumped clear and looked a "Certainty" them blood gushed from its nostril and my pal had to "pull-up". The horse was OK though - nothing serious found when examined. My good luck in life wais in finding a Filipina Gem who I don't deserve. God Bless Her -- poor unfortunate Lady. :7500: Every good wish from Tom & Cristina.. :cheersty:ps Sorry I could not resist ....SugarwareZ-003.gif OR SugarwareZ-002.gif

love2winalot, thank you for the great post. It is important for members to see how things get accomplished by other members and your post has done just that. Keep the information coming because it is very valuable to all of us. One more comment, I believe and you can correct me if I am wrong, as long as a person such as yourself keeps an account in the US or other country and has their money deposited into those accounts and not into a Philippine account, then I believe you would be safe from the anti gambling laws of the Philippines because all the gambling is actually happening outside the Philippines and as long as no one reports you in such a way that the government of the Philippines could track you and prove you are actually doing it in the Philippines, then I would think you would be OK. My thoughts are, why would the Philippines wish to stop you since you are bringing all the winnings back to the Philippines, so I believe they would look the other way and besides that, you are actually doing your gambling in another country where the server would be for the gaming and IMO that puts it outside the laws of the Philippines. Now with that said, I do not think you should make it well known within your community that is how you are earning your living because if a person were to get pissed at you and report you, then illegal is illegal and the the government might take action against you, or at least try and none of us needs any hassles.  :mocking:Keep us up to date on how things are going for you and keep on teaching us all, because I am learning from you.  :7500:

Good points BUT THEY would want and want to Tax these "earnings" and want to again.!!VERY important advice from Lee - keep a low profile and say you have a small US pension or such. IMO.A "friend" set up his Bank Accounts in Singapore where Bank Law IS user friendly. Just a thought... Hiya: Mr Lee, i will try to explain it better. It is, "100% OK", to gamble on the internet from the Philippines, as it is in most of the world. It is ILLEGAL to to it from the United States, or to fund your account using a bank located within the United States. So, if someone wanted to call the FBI on me, they would have had to done it prior to the 12th of April. Just a side note on this subject, the authorities do not care at all about the player, or even the Casino for that matter. They are after the Money Processors that are taking the money out of a US bank account, or Visa card, and then allowing that money to end up in a On Line Casino located in Canada, or Europe, or Malta, or some such places. All money going into/out of the Casino is from my bank account here in the Philippines. To Singers, i gave up betting on any sport a long time ago. I used to spend a little on parlay cards, but after 0 wins, and 34 losses, i decided i am a sports betting Idiot......................................In a couple of weeks or sooner, we will get our electric bill. I will post what it is. We have a huge house, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, "with no hot water" and who in the hell needs hot water here? There are a bunch of floor fan's, and i new AC mounted in my bedroom/PC room. I only run it a hour or 2 at night, and then let the fan blow the cold air around. last month. before i got here it was around p2700, or around $65. We will see how much, "I" made it go up....................................hehehehe. I will post pictures, or link to pictures later. I would do it Now, but i have decided to act like a Local, and will do it when i damn well please..................................if at all...........................hahahahaha.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, as you can no doubt tell, I know nothing at all about online gambling. Yup, you got to have that local attitude or at least the understanding of it, in order to enjoy life in the Philippines the most.

Hi Winalot,You have a wonderful "laid back" attitude and comprehend the Manana "Requirement" already. When I am in UK my mind is 100 miles an hour (mind??) in PI I take your attitude on board and let others do the mileage!. Takes 3 weeks to wind down though to PI pace. Best wishes,Tom in UK :7500: cant wait to get there in August '10 7_3_205[1].gif Edited by Singers

Love2winalot,Appreciate your field report regarding baggage inspections, setting up certificate of residence and bank accounts.Looks like you're playing your cards well with all the pre-planning for any contingencies that may arise. I especiallylike the thought of bringing some seeds for your vegetable garden.I have worked at a local casino here (Pechanga Resort and Casino) and the amount of $ the house takes in isunbelievable. With my luck playing the table games, thank god I was able to push off the table before it was toolate. Hell, I even need a calculator to play blackjack.........!Again, appreciate your posts -- very informative and relevant to the Philippines.Respectfully -- Jake

Love2winalot,When my wife and I retired here in the Philippines in 1998, we first lived in Brgy. Del Pilar, a stone throw away from Castilljeos, Zambales, about 30 miles north of Subic. I was born in Matain, Subic, Zambales, but grew up in Northern and Southern California at the age of 7 and since retired at age 49 in 1997.Yeah, we just came full circle and now enjoy our retirement here in the Philippines! I like the kicked back life here as long as I don't hear any loud traffic, Loud night club music, the sound/smell of pigs, barking dogs or crowing roosters! SugarwareZ-003.gif
