Daily Routine

What is the general daily routine for the guys here? For me, when there, it's following up business enquiries. Then the occassional movie before heading home and then having a drink, well at least half a dozen, of SM Lite.Yeah, it's great to sit there on the terrace with the loved one, slurping back the booze, cuddling, but I'm beginning to think there has to be more to it than that. So, what do you guys do to relieve boredom and kick on with life? I'm actually qualified in TESOL, but it seems impossible to get a job here to teach English.Maybe I should just sit in the squatter areas and offer lessons for free...at least there will be a motive to do something. So, come on guys, what's the go? What do you do to make your day worthwhile? I'm concerned the booze may take control cos can't seem to find something more constructive to do.

It's easy, lay off the booze and just get with friends and family to an outing, weather it's a 3 day weekend at a resort, a sightseeing trip or a get together potluck lunch or dinner with your close neighbors and friends by the pool side or picnic ground or just in the back yard for a BBQ cookout, but only drink in moderation!

Here are things I have already done or might do in the future. These mostly relate to Cebu City or nearby- Answer questions on forums like these. There are hundreds of Filipino forums. In the past I found I was on so many forums I had no time for anything else.- Have one or more content/information websites then spend time finding content for them.- Meet up with friends for lunch or dinner- Attend the regular get togethers advertised on this or similar forums- Play ten pin bowling every wednesday at Country Mall Bowling centre- Go window shopping at a mall- Watch the latest block buster movies- Assist newbies. IE meet and greet at the airport. Show them the ropes in the city. Help them to settle in otherwise- Go for a day tour to places such as Kawasan Falls or Bohol.- Tour the Philippines- Read a good book- Go to a disco- Go to the bars and play pool- Go for a pub crawl (bar hop) with friends- Go for a picnic at a place like Aqua Cainta, Villa Terisita or Tubod Flowing Waters- Go for a run/walk with the Cebu Hash House Harriers every Saturday- Have a go at a small business but do not invest more than you can afford to lose. Treat the whole thing as a learning experience no matter how succesful or otherwise the business is.- Help organise another boat tripThings I have never wanted to do but you might- Work as a volunteer- Get fit at a fitness centre at Ayala mall - Swim laps at the Cebu City sports complex- Play poker. There are regular expat poker nights. One place you may still be able to play poker is El Gecko- Play tennis with other expats at the Sandtrap- Go diving/snorkelling from Mactan Island- Spend time in the Casino at the Waterfront HotelI hope this helpsRegards; Jim Sibbick

To me the main thing is hobbies, I have quite a few and then friends and of course helping as many people as my wife and I can via the forum and in person.  Jim Sibbick pretty much covered all other.  :th_thbarbaque:

Yeah, life is pretty boring anywhere in the world if you got nothing to do. For me, personally, it's gotta be physical. I love getting in shape and playing sports. I hate the feeling of my body just wasting away. I seem to accumulate more injuries doing nothing when out of shape, than when exercising regularly. I love drinking, but I especially love drinking at bars in the Philippines with live music. If I have time away from my kids and work, I love reading, too. Drinking at beaches is great. Maybe see if there are Filipino language courses you could sign up for at a local college (I'm not sure if there are). It might take a year or two of hard studying, but it could pay off if you get local Filipino friends who could show you so many cool things about life there that foreigners aren't exactly privy to. Bottom line: hobby.

For me, its a 120Km bus ride to see a movie. HAHAThe one disco doesn't even have aircon. :) It sometimes doesn't even have babes! Why they charge the girls a P50 cover, I'll never understand. When I can, I take a ferry to Bantayan Island, take about and hour and half for boat ride and ferry (maybe two hours). Then I go to Tristan's get treated like a freaking king, sit on the wooden lounge chair, pop a huge Philippine made cigar in my mouth and have SM there. LOL :541: Its really nice there though and quiet most of the time. There is more to life than cuddling with a Filipina? Oh wait, yes there is, two of them.... Thinks of uploading a pic but I don't know where it is. LOL

YesIn Robinvale - 1991 to 1995 Manager's Assistant at the Westpac bank- 2007 salesman, deliveries and set up for RetravisionI still visit regularly. I was last there for the grandfinal replay.Nide is married to an Italian man now who has 300 acres of oranges. They were living in our old house until just recently it was a decent sized 24 square, 4 bedroom home. But Nide sister bought a house of about 40 squares so Nide being the older has to have a bigger house so they just bought a 50 square house in the interim while they wait for their 70 square house to be finished. That is 7000 square foot for Americans who may not be familiar with squares. Or about 650 square metres. Regards; Jim Edited by Jim Sibbick
