Guam is not cheap to live in (comparable to Hawaii) but as a US citizen you can divorce a non-US citizen quickly there. The non-US citizen does not have to be present. I have an old acquaintance that did this with his Thai wife (non-US citizen) about 4 years ago. Personally I think it would be better to clear up all loose ends such as a proper divorce rather than find years down the track something will bite you on the rump.
