Time and the Filipino.

As far as I can make out "Filipino time" has been around for many years,I was told it was for the people who live in the hills to have time to get somewhere, attend church etc.It has in my opinion been overused to the extent of being very rude behavior.

My wife knows that she has to be in good time and not be too late. She learned this when she had to go for a check up just before our daughter was born, well she was late for the appointment and they told her to come back Monday. She went back on the Monday and they immediately admitted her as she was in labour. My daughter was born 6-7 hours later. Now if possible she will be early for appointments.

To us in the west timing is important as we know the knock on effects lateness can have, here who cares well they don`t until it costs them money or their phone gets cut off.

Oh well that`s their way of life, although not in my house. My two know that if they are late I will leave without them. I have only had to do this once haha she had to pay her own fare home.

Well mate she has not kept me waiting for long since that time outside of Lee plaza,50 peso it cost her tough. I asked earlier who wanted to come to the carwash and have a drink over the road whilst we wait.I never mentioned a time but they have both started to get ready.I will be writing a book on my method and it will be on sale at the end of August or thereabouts haha.

Last time I was there, was with SAO (Short Angry One) and her daughter.  We were doing a bit of a tour around Luzon and were in Vigan with the plan to drive down to Baguio the next day; I'd never been there and wanted to catch up with some expat mates as well.  On the eve of our departure, MSAO (Mini Short Angry One) announces she had to be back in Dumaguete in two days for her next semester's university class enrollments.  I asked her how long she'd known about this to which she replied since last semester.  No we couldn't just put her on a bus then a flight out of Manila, we had to accompany her to Manila of course.  I don't blame SAO for that decision really, MSAO is a little naive even for a 19yo.  So the upshot of all this is we missed Baguio completely.  I had some small sense of satisfaction in that MSAO missed out on the Palawan leg of our journey.  Small minded of me? Perhaps.  Did she learn a lesson from this?  Perhaps, but I doubt it.  I take heart in the fact that SAO was just as annoyed with her as I was.

If one cannot change it.....

Now its1.10pm, I have a dental appointment at 1pm. Will move my arse at 1.30, prefer to wait here than in clinic.

Think this proves we do, we can adjust.

I know not to move until the third lets go as I'd only end up standing around for the first two.
