Yup, I'm on a tourist visa for over a year, and I'm flying around a lot, never done it, never been asked, as a tourist you can't get credit, so no clearance required, my experience anyway.

Sorry but even tourists once they have been in country over 6 months require an exit clearance.  Attached is a screenshot from the main immigration site.

So do you have to leave one month before your 36 months or not? Have you figured it out?

No have not figured it out and its causing issues for me as I was planning on being here for another 2 months.

Buy your ticket out, come to Dumaguete, go to BI and show them the ticket and tell them you want an extension until your flight leaves in 2 months.  OR send Elsa in with the ticket to renew your visa for you in Cebu.  May cost you a bit but she knows the right people.

Thanks for that. I have some friends who will be interested to find out what the facts really are about this. Two months is a BIG deal!

That's where the info came from. They would not do a 2 month and said that tourist should leave 2 months before 36 months. So now I guess I have a one month extension.

OIC.  You already HAVE a one month extension, whether you like it or not.  Too late to fix that now.  Overnight Visa run to Hong Kong?

I guess if 20th Sept is less than 2 months you won't be given a two month visa.

Just something to keep a look out for. The other day I read in the Star News paper, and I looked and looked online but kouldnt find the article to post the link. The powers that be are considering adjusting the tourist visa system.

Here in the Manila area we have a lot of those online Chinese casinos. The Chinese are coming in on tourist visas and doing the 30 day, 6 month, renewal process and basically working here for two years and rolling the dice that they wont get caught by the highly effective immigration system :571c66d400c8c_1(103)::hystery:.

If they do change the tourist visa system, it will probably be implemented fast with very little notification and I would hate to see folks we know get caught up in it. So just keep an eye out.
