for example foreign people experience robbing or stealing money from them by the street children here in philippines;

  • how they deal with this kind of experience?

  • what do they need to do?

  • how to avoid this?

  • how to reach out / seek help?

I hope I get help on what to do in this scenario
I don't know how / what to do / where I can get assistance.

Never had this problem and I've been here for two years. You must be in a bad area if you are experiencing trouble with street kids. I find that the local street kids are polite. Even the kids that beg outside the mall for money are polite, sometimes a bit pushy but that is their mother telling them what to do as they are usually standing nearby, but I have also noticed that the mall has cracked down on the street kids from bothering customers as they enter the mall.

Stumbled across this thread

Totally hilarious looking forward to the encounters

Depending where you are, I wouldn't expect too much, Terry, I'm in a sizeable city and we don't have a problem with street kids.

My worst experience was when a young lad sitting on his cardboard gave me the finger because I did not offer him a coin when he asked for money. :hystery:  When I returned from my shopping errand at the mall he didn't get one again.   :tongue:

Upthread a plywood lining was suggested for bags. Chicken wire fencing as a bag liner is a better solution.

Why ?

That's going to end up a right mess.  You tried it ?

Yes. I think maybe we have a failure to communicate. Do you know what I mean by 'chicken wire'? It's very lightweight and flexible. It is easy to line a backpack with. It can't prevent your backpack from being sliced, but it will prevent the contents from falling out unless the contents are coins, small pieces of jewelry or the like.

I've never known or heard of street kids slicing things, scallywags and rouges do that. The proper street kid only hassles you for money and gets annoyed when you buy food for him/her. As said, they have a pimp keeping an eye on them so for your own safety, DO NOT lay a hand on one. And do not learn the Tagalog swear words, you'll only get offended when they decline your offering. :thumbsup:
