Please keep us informed as to what you find out.  This thread is of interest to me as I have was told several years back that I have the beginning of cataract in one eye.

Wife's going to Phil-health this morning to pay her annual payments, she will ask again if the rules have changed in the last year concerning foreigners.

I believe Cebu City have an excellent eye specialist. So you're on the right island.

I check my wife's online Philhealth account from time-to-time to check I'm still covered.  I last checked a couple of weeks ago and I was still listed as a dependant along with our son.

So, if there has been a change it has happened only recently.

ETA - I just checked again and I'm still included as per the website which is up-to-date as our annual payment for 2023 is already posted and showing.

Wife got back from Philhealth, apparently the rule changed in 2019! The lady said I have to have my own account and my wife would be listed on my philhealth account.

So I have to pay 15k for 1 year membership for me and my wife.

Do you have a link please that I could make a screen shot. I will show the lady she is wrong.

Did you ever have written confirmation of being covered such as being shown on your wife's account details?

I'd recommend you set up the online account if you don't already have one and see if you are included as a dependant - if not, then I guess you're screwed.  If you are, then you can take that to Philhealth and ask for an explanation.

Here is the link to the website -

https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/

Click on Online Services - Member Portal - Register/Log In then Create Account (bottom right)

Of course, it may be the case that I'm shown as a dependant but, as a foreigner, if and when I came to claim they would reject my claim and say the website is wrong!

Been overseas 2+ years, so when I return, if I want to continue PhilHealth do I have to catch up and pay for the time I was away?

Unless they changed the rules, you don't need to pay for any past coverage. Once I lapsed for a few years and just started up again, paying for next 12 months. They allow it because there is delay, you can't just start payments again in order to get immediate coverage. If they refused I just would have signed up for a new account.

Eventually I cancelled when I realized the maximum coverage was so low, it wouldn't have helped much in an emergency anyway.

I put my wife's details in, it could not find mine, She was successful with the PhilHealth portal and it had me as a dependent from January 2015.Up til present.

Going to get it printed.

I would say it will depend on the hospital or where ever one ends up as to what they believe or understand. Just because your name is there means nothing at the end of the day.

Listed as a dependent from before the war may not mean jack shit now as nothing will change on their website.

Pretty much my thinking as well - if things change the website may not be updated anyway - actually, change that to will not.

My only point in asking Jim to check if he was included was if he wasn't then his argument is killed dead immediately - he wouldn't have a leg to stand on.  But, as he is included he at least has something to start the discussion with.

My wife definitely confirmed I was still covered in 2020 or 2021, so after 2019 when Jim was told the rules changed, but that doesn't really mean much if the employee simply logged into her account and saw my name there.
