Confuses me too. If I saw the gf would I be impressed, feel sympathy or nauseous.  :89:

Don't mind us we are a bit behind in the popular vernacular. In other words our Check Engine light has been on awhile now.

Boracay is an overdeveloped visitor destination with an open palm (don't forget to tip) feeling.  There is very little by way of a residential community where you can develop long term relationships.  The people you meet will be gone in a few days.  The lack of healthcare and medical facilities would be another reason to avoid any long stay commitment.

Nice for a holiday but I wouldn't fancy living there personally.

I half feel like rewriting my reply in your Cabanatuan thread as Snowy is much more positive than me lol. If Boracay has an average hospital then Cabanatuan is world class healthcare. There's not many activities 20 mins away on the mainland either unless you're travelling by fighter jet.

Visited back in 1986. Then it was cool. No chinese then, no crowds from manila vying for their Instagram pics, no power at night, everyone given kerosene lanterns. No one hassling for hair braids, manicure Tshirt sales... .then it was really cool. Im glad I went, but wouldnt go now.

Would just spoil the excellent memories of a once relatively undiscovered uncrowded untouristy place.

I'm with you there.  I spent 2 weeks there in 1995.  It was very quiet. Dirt cheap.  No malls, a few restaurants, lots of unused/undeveloped land.  You could fire a cannon on that long white beach at any time and not hit anyone.  To me, @Snowy79offers a description of the place that is truly frightening.  But that's just me.  It obviously suits him well, and that's great.  We're not all the same.  Where I live in Canada is on a remote island, off-grid, on a large oceanfront acreage with no one within a mile.  I love it.  It would be a prison camp for @Snowy79I am sure.

I've lived in some of the remotest places on Earth so 1 mile from anyone would be fine, there's still a surprising amount of greenery here, I look over a golf course with a jungle behind me so no locals to worry about. I just like the fact I can go days without having to talk to anyone but if I need civilisation it's on my doorstep.

You can just make out my condo in the distance, 500m of jungle behind me then a stunning beach.
