Cool, you've had a good experience and that's great.  I've not needed serious treatment here but have had friends and relatives who have, some of who passed away who would have survived quite likely had they not been given second rate care and diagnosis.  That's not just my opinion, in one case that was the "off the record don't quote me" chat with one of the attending doctors and in another an opinion from a US doctor who was shocked at what was done to the patient here.

I have had a couple decent Doctors here, but most I would not trust at all

 Not so My friend;

Morphine distribution shall comply with the following: Morphine dispensing shall be covered by a duly) accomplished DOH prescription issued by a current PDEA S2 licensed doctor and dentist.

That was the issue - the only doc at the hospital that could prescribe it was not due back for a week

That to me, was BAD Administration Not medical incompetence of any sort

They stay here because it's cheap or perceived to be anyway.

Some do, but there are other cheap options out there I'm sure.

I stay here for a host of reasons:

- my wife of 16 years and her amazing extended family who ask for nothing and are always there if they even hear we have a problem

- my amazing staff who apart from being a buzz to work with have a work ethic and commitment that no longer exists in the West

- a government who by and large keeps its nose out of my business with minimal interference and surveillance

- zero income tax on my overseas income and banking secrecy on my foreign currency accounts

- cost effective living with all the goods and services I need with a few exception in what is still a cash economy

- good banking, online shopping and payment options

- no woke rubbish shoved down my throat to comply with or forced on my family

- a country that still (mostly) believes in God, family and country as I do

- same pleasant weather all year round, not too hot or too cold, typhoons notwithstanding

- last but not least the Filipino, who has always made me feel welcome and part of the community here

OK, this is my experience based on where I live, how I live and how I do things - not always the case - but currently I'm super happy here

Agreed, the medical incompetence was what killed my Norwegian friend here and my dear uncle - but too long to rant about.  Missed diagnosis for weeks as an inpatient util he was critical and a specialist was called in who blew a fuse - we could hear her yelling at the doctor for his missing the obvious in the next room.  He never recovered.  For my uncle it was prescribing a drug that has limited efficacy and is dangerous (high risk of organ failure) and NHS advises 3 doses one per day maximum or less.  After 10 daily doses his organs failed - but hey at P30,000 a dose it must have been tempting to let it run.   The morphine doctor was bad admin - the other two died from misdiagnosis and pure greed.

Things could have changed a lot in almost a quarter of a century.

Hopefully your reports back to the MB will shed some light on this.

Totally, but my German friend had his triple stents late 2019 and raved about the hospital so let's see, will def report in detail

Why?  Crap healthcare is what I see here on a regular basis - don't need to travel to find that out

I have an opinion, based on personal experience, some of it heartbreaking, not an agenda - sorry if my opinion upsets you - I don't wish to offend - just share what I've experienced in a frank manner in the event someone else can benefit from it.
