That's no different to the case in many countries, though.  Rape is indeed one of those crimes which can often only be judged on the basis of one person's evidence versus another's

you mean like Saudi Arabia?   Name me 3  countries where a woman can accuse a man of rape 10 years later, and have that man convicted with absolutely no evidence.

If it's true he is facing charges of human trafficking I wouldn't be shedding too many tears for him

Nor would I

I don't think she accused him 10 years later? That's just how long it took to finish the court case?

It's the same on the police tv shows I watch in the UK, they sometimes get convicted with little evidence, most of them are probably guilty but it wouldn't be 'beyond reasonable doubt' in my eyes.

hmmmm the last sentence:

"Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Boying Remulla commended Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Jinky Dedumo and Asst. State Prosecutor Wendelll Bendoval for successfully prosecuting the case.

“Let’s demand accountability for this, more so, from a foreign national who fearlessly defied the very laws of this country,” the Secretary said."

I cannot find it, but I do not believe this trial lasted more than 10 years.   There are only two witnesses, one said yes he did, and the other said no I did not.  Evidently he did not say much more than that, other than something to the effect of, I do not know why she would do/say this"   No way it took 10 years, my guess is this went to the courts recently.

USA.

"Actor Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison Thursday after a jury convicted him earlier this year of raping two women 20 years ago, according to the Los Angeles district attorney's office. Prosecutors said the rapes occurred in 2003 while Masterson, now 47, was starring in the hit sitcom "That '70s Show.""

Also, didn't Donald Tr.ump* get convicted to pay X million $ for allegedly touching some female 50 years ago in a wardrobe?

And Weinstein? I mean, yeah, also no evidence except he promised them careers or whatever and gave them nothing.

The word Tru mp get's replaced by "Former President" - huh. Donald Former President.

I also couldn’t find the date he was arrested, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did take 10 years before it came to trial. Some members here may recall the case of Drew Shobbrook who was arrested in 2013 on multiple counts of having sex with a minor. He wasn’t convicted until 2018 and his case was far less complicated then a he said she said type of case.

in the first two cases there was evidence and multiple witnesses and accusers, text messages, corroborating evidence etc... I wont comment on the 3rd as that strays into US politics.   This case (again I was not at the trial) did not sound like it had any evidence whatsoever.   I may be wrong and that is fine, it wont be the first time, but with the information we have been provided, forgive me if I am somewhat skeptical.

If this would be the case, then why did it take 20, 30 years. Well, I am skeptical of all these cases as they are basically just testimonies from the alleged victims. There are tons of these cases, it's so many I can't keep track anymore.

They tried the same with Rammstein's lead guy. Some of the women accused him of... of what... having rough consensual intercourse and then dumping them and 10 years later they decided it wasn't consensual anymore (they were literally lining up in front of his hotel rooms and waiting for their turn) and the media hyped the stories of the fake victims. Since Germany doesn't have this 'citizen jury' system, nobody was influenced by the media though and the case was closed and it all disappeared. They constantly try it with other German men but all the stories disappear quickly because common sense dictates it.

And as a side note, if I go to a gym in my area I can see all the girl's vagina areas very clearly through their tight and mostly semi-transparent leggings. To me, it feels like I am getting sexually assaulted but somehow this is legal. But no doubt, if I would approach them and say something about that I would labelled as 'creep' or worse, police would be called on me.
