Yeah right, Bob. I reckon that " Money Detecter " is working already..... For the vender ! ! It's sniffing round your pocket right now.

God, I'm so cynical. I hate myself. Really. :1(103):

Oh yea of little faith! Here's the link... http://www.belmonttools.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_107_609&products_id=72757

Hehe! You may be cynical but I'm just baaaaddd!

Ok, Mike, Ashanti and Bob, I see that Belmont have a huge selection of goods.

I take issue with Mikes description of " full range of hardware " Not quite full though is it ? After all, they don't have a bloody spoke shave !

I guess for that you'd have to go to a store specialising ( that is, selling only) woodworking hand tools and machinery.

This would be the sort of place you can't also buy yoghurt and frilly knickers.

Incidentally, I saw in the Belmont catalogue, a Black and Decker Workmate for ph5,655,00. Only last week, whilst strolling through the

recycle yard at our local dump, I saw one of these little beauties and bought it for $5. It's in perfect shape, well, almost perfect, couple of

things need fixing.

They even got a "Money Detector"

Hell Bob .... I got one of those on my cell phone ..... it's an inferred light and built into the side of my cell phone ......

Classic Dry .... they really have tons of stuff that is not listed in their website ..... the store is 3 stories tall and lots of goodies ..... but like you said no spoke shaver ..... oh by the way I have not been able to just find a store dealing with wood working tools and supplies anywhere ...... there are lumber yards but they either have limited tools or limited lumber ...... oh to have a Home Depot or Lowes ........http://www.homedepot.com/ .......... http://www.lowes.com/ ......... (for those of you not familiar with these stores in the US) .....

But then I am extremely glad I don't have to put up with the crap going on in the US ..... I'll take living here any ol' day ...... :tiphat:

Yeah Mike, you're a lucky man, ( I envy you ) and you must have a great sense of humour, to put up with me ragging you the way I do. ( Hope you know it's all in fun. )

I'm curious though Mike. What do you use the tools for ? I'm thinking you must build furniture or similar. Come on confess ! What do you make?

What's the spoke shave for ? Is it easy to order things on the internet over there ?

Classic Dry ..... no problem .... over the years I have gotten used to Aussie humor and can now tell the difference when someone is doing it in fun or just being an a*s-hole .....

Well first off I don't dabble in it every day (got my computer to do that with ..... my asawa calls it my 2nd wife ... :hystery: ) ..... and working with no power tools takes a whole lot longer to build anything and that is the point of it all as I'm in no hurry to get anything done ..... and it is a hobby not a necessity ..... not sure if you know it or not but unless you use coco lumber their are relatively no soft wood here to work with ... all hardwoods ..... and so all my projects have to be screwed and or glued together .... back in the US it is just the opposite .... hardwoods are hard to find and very expensive ..... here it is cheap .... right now I'm working in Malaysian wood as it is relatively cheap .... Lauan or Meranti (sometimes called Philippine Mahogany ... but not a true mahogany) is a bit more expensive and comes in a light as well as dark variety ....... damn I'm just a cornucopia of information .... aren't I ..... :mocking:

My work bench is so heavy I had to construct it so that it can be taken apart to move it (if we ever move) .... this wood is HEAVY and dense ..... anyway small projects like music and jewelry boxes are fun and am looking at making a wooden bed next ..... but most times things come to a halt when I have to stop and make the tools I need .... but like I said .... all part of the hobby ..... even made a small hand turned wet grinder to sharpen my plane blades and chisels on ...... well it isn't totally finished yet but almost .... made several wooden planes etc. .....

Ahhhh the spoke shaver ...... well in a time long ago when power tools weren't invented yet spoke shavers were designed to make square lumber round like in the spokes of a wagon wheel (where it got it's name from) or the rungs on a chair or posts on a wooden bed (which is why I need one) ..... also can be used to make wooden dowel rods (which I can't find here) .... they come in straight ..... concave and convex ...... I must confess I do have a straight one but the concave one makes a much nicer and neater job ....

Ordering stuff from other countries can cost a bundle in customs fees especially if sent directly from the source (their packaging and name on it) ..... however you can send it to a friend and have them mail it to the Phils in a USPS box and it doesn't cost near as much and usually only takes 30 days to get to me ...... heaver stuff and bulky items can be sent in BB Boxes if you know someone shipping goodies to their relatives ..... but that can take from 2-3 months so you have to plan accordingly ..... if you need something tomorrow you are just plain SOL ......

Well I guess that is enough of my blubbering ...... I do have to admit that being back on this board has taken a lot of my wood working time away ..... in fact just about all of it ...... barely have enough time to keep the tools oiled ......... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :tiphat:

Thanks for the info Mike. Been checking my top notch, woodworking tools store here. Google " Timbecon Australia Catalogue " ( I don't know how to put in a link)

They have a concave spoke shave here for $242.00. Interested ?

My god ...... that's a little steep even for Aussie standards ..... that must include a one way ticket to bring it to me ...... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: .... just kidding CD .... normally it would cost around $20-30 US dollars ..... not sure about that one though ...... :mocking: ......

Here is one by KUNZ (I believe it is German made) ........ http://www.amazon.com/Kunz-KUNZ-Spokeshave-Half-Round/dp/B00337AI40/ref=pd_cp_hi_3 .....

To put it in a link just go to the page you want to link to .... right click on you mouse button in the address bar at the top of your web browser ..... after you right click on it a menu will pop up ..... with you curser ( the little arrow thingy) in any part of the address bar click the copy choice (in the menu) ........ then go to your post where you want the address to come out and right click again and when the menu appears click on the paste choice ..... and there you have it

I'm sure someone else can explain it a lot better than I can ..... :cheersty:

Abslutely NO WAY Jack. Be like trying to pick a lock with a condom....Those guys must have heaps of patience. I can see myself throwing half completed projects out the window.

Again and again and.......

Now Mike, this bed, I'm guessing the old one's wearing out. Getting too much of a pounding I reckon. Forget the spoke shave Mike. Get some lengths of angle iron and a welder.

Bed like that'll take heaps of punishment.

I'm thinking there are kids at your house, who like to use your bed as a trampoline. :whistling:

Yeah, the Timbecon spoke shaves must have some components made of gold. I an get a Kunz one here (concave) for $41 and they have a store here in my city.

I don't want or need one, but I might buy one anyway just to make you jealous :mocking:

Thanks for the link instruction. I'll use it next time I need it.

:hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: ....... unfortunately C D the only kid running (or is the hobbling) around here is me ..... the bed frame has already been reinforced with 2" aluminum angle and a 1" thick plywood bottom for good measure ..... (did I mention I was a couple of pounds over weight) ..... anyway it is the standard ugly metal bed you see all around here so a new one is in order ......

And as to you buying a spoke shaver just to make me jealous ...... I hope a kangaroo takes a p*ss in your Fosters ....... :tiphat: :mocking: :mocking: :mocking: ...... actually I'm thinking of having a friend of mine send me a care package soon ..... there are a few tools I could use ....
