Fines And Penalties For Major Traffic Violations In The Philippines

I thought that's what 4 way flashers were for. Our cars are not commercial vehicles.

You are going to get in trouble if you keep on thinking.

I think that RBM bought a Dash Cam, not a web cam.

After 5 months in Canada, we just returned from the airport in Bacolod. From there to our place, our taxi driver broke the traffic law 97 times. Also, one trike driver died at the 1st traffic light from the airport. He was T- boned. A motorcycle went thru a red light crossing in front of us by 2 meters. We saw at least 100 other violations. After awhile, I guess that you get used to it. Crazy!

it defused a situation after the other person was shown how he was clearly at fault..

:hystery:  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Yeah But getting him to actually admit it, is a different Story!  Back to face again? This pride thing, can get ugly sometimes IMHO

Yes but it may be just enough to keep it out of court and get them to settle. You have to remember, traffic accidents are not really pushed for resolution in the courts bout out of courts. The police want to stay out of it if at all possible. That is why it usually takes so long to settle the situation on scene.

And as I said earlier, it may be enough to shut up a cop over a dispute between red light and amber.

Thanks for that jpbago yes dash cam. Unfortunately I am not so well up on all these fancy gadgets. Next will be to work out how to delet memory stick after the 15 hours.

Oh well again will call on the help of some young Filipino kid, they sure know the gadgets.

Bacolod traffic has defiantly changed over the last years, nothing compared to Cebu but one must be careful.

Particularly snarled up I find is the area around Robinsons. Last week waiting at the lights a young guy, no helmet screamed through on an XRM going at least 100km. God only knows if he knew or not, just as he came along side it changed to green.... Was around 9am Sunday so maybe this saved him.

But after some years in Cebu over all I find it refreshing.

That was why Japan built the new highway from the airport to enter Bacolod at Murcia and Alijis instead of Talisay but it was very much congested there now too. Google hasn't found the highway yet. It was opened last year.

There is a TV show called "Don't Drive Here". I haven't seen Philippines on it yet.

No. It comes with a USB and cigar lighter connection. Both shut off when you shut the car off. I use it in 2 cars. Excellent video picture.

Thanks, I did a lot more reading after I asked. I'm going with the G1W-C (no battery) model recommended for hot climates.

Hello Jpbago,

Thank you for the heads up on your new electronic device.  I took the liberty of researching through Amazon and it looks

pretty good, especially the more durable G1W-C model.  Since the ideal location replaces the rear view mirror position,

what do you guys do if you still want to use a rear view mirror?

Many reviews commented about fake units from certain vendors -- be careful!

The cam is not very large so it fits behind the rear view mirror and a bit to the right so that the driver's view is not obstructed. It is wide angle enough to cover more than a 8 lane highway. Some people use another cam to record the rear. Soon, there may be no more rear view mirrors.

Pretty soon, you won't be able to buy a car in the US without a camera in it, thanks to the Department of Transportation's mandate for rear-view cameras in all cars built from May 1, 2018. Hot on the heels of that announcement, we heard that Tesla was petitioning regulators to allow side cameras in place of the ubiquitous side wing mirrors. Meanwhile, automakers like Nissan and Land Rover are slapping cameras all over their cars and SUVs, searching for more ways to improve cockpit visibility and driver awareness. Compared to cameras, the tried and true three mirror setup is starting to look a bit archaic. With that in mind, I've rounded up six advantages that cameras can offer drivers over mirrors and a few challenges that automakers will need to face in order to make the transition.

Good points, discussed this yesterday with a friend what is best location for the dash cam. As there mounted with a sucker and long cable it's quite flexible. He like most prefer it directly under the mirror. I find it far less obtrusive mounted bottom right corner. The cam swivels so can be aimed directly to center of road.

Only nuisance here is on my Chevy spin the connection is central so cable is a small hassle. Goes in for service next week so hope they can wire it direct.

Yes the ultimate would be also one rear mounted, still it's doubtful this evidence would hold up in a Philippine court, guess depend on the judge.
