Burger King has now open (20nov) in Cebu

So I understand there are two malls in Cebu City - the Ayala and the SM. Which would be the best to take my wife to when we visit?  Also, is there a market for local crafts in town?

Me I like SM, not so many expats there, lots of shops, lots of food outlets, just seems to me a bit more relaxed.

Burger King and McDonalds are fine, but I still believe the best fast food hamburger is Carls Jr. Hopefully a corporation in the Philippines obtains the master or territorial franchise from this company.

There are tons of malls in Cebu the big 2 are Ayala and Sm . For me ayala is better better selection of restos 

local crafts can be found in Carbon market or a pretty good street market on friday night  on Colon street  Be careful in both locations pick pockets are around

When it come's to fast food, the real question is do they have Taco Bell or Arby's?

Planning a Cebu Christmas visit to get the heck out of the province and live like a burger KING for a few days.  Wife busted me looking at porn yesterday....it wasn't naked women, it was multiple pictures of tex-mex platters and I had a taco bell menu saved on favorites....she forgave me and agreed that her Christmas present for me will be a dinner at the best Mexican resto in Cebu.  I will probably enjoy BK more the next day.  Thanks for the Ayala info!

Loved my Carl's jr....they really put effort into the burger.  Same as Hardees on the East.  Always loved getting back west, for obvious reasons, and getting the Green Burrito mixed in there....sweet.  Might be different now, I'm out of the loop.  Here under a rock.  :)

I recall when McDonalds opened their first outlet in downtown Manila, bus excursions were organized from then Clark Air Base and Subic Bay Naval. Those who came would buy dozens of burgers to take back for friends and family who could not make the trip. Half of the crew were flown in from Hong Kong because the locals were still inexperienced in the McDonalds system.

When they opened the Greenhills outlet, the crew was asked to park their Mercedes Benz cars at least 150 meters away to leave space for customers. It was then considered prestigious for wealthy kids to work for McDonalds after school.

She will like them both.  Ayala is more high-end.  Most newcomers spend a lot of time in those 2 malls and the dozens of similar malls as they are the most home-like places to go.  Plus you get air conditioning :-)  Unfortunately the prices are higher in those two malls, more so in Ayala.

 

There are small local markets everywhere and they all sell the same crap.  Not stuff that foreign tourists are generally interested in but your wife will like some of the stuff.

 

Once you have been here long enough you will understand the thrill of something like Burger King opening here.  It is like a cure for homesickness.
