Pain Medication

I think we should all go and read through the Philhealth site again... Some good info on there that had changed recently...

Doctors in the Philippines used to be god but not any more... There were too many screw ups happening... Now, if there are any questions regarding care or treatment, hospital administration has been mandated by the government to have a review done... Just recently I've read in the news of doctors being reprimanded and even one sent back to school or lose his license for good...

My comment was did you question the Dr? Maybe you were not there? If you don't question the Dr. it means you accepted the treatment.
You seem to defend a BAD acting doctor  :)   Why have PAIN meds at all, if it isn't necesary. That's EXTRA stupid when it's head injuries, when it can be deadly if not noticing if it get worse and pain killers make that HARDER  :1 (103):   MANY doctors subscribe to much meds, and sometimes even dangerous meds, at least some of them just to earn some extra...

Many people TRUST doctors, and/or DON'T DARE to question doctors telling the doctors. Many doctors expect to be treated as God...

(A "specialist" doctor didn't understand a very simple thing  (=of course a joint get worse if shaking it in UNNECESARY transports, moving it in BAD angles, in difference from health therapy exersises.) He didn't like when I told him this   :mocking:

-WHAT?! A six year old understand that...

As for Rx written by Doctor's? Isn't that their job?
It's their job to subscribe NECESARY and SUITING medecins, it's NOT their job to subscribe extra meds to earn extra money...
just a little info if anyone has long term hospital stays take the bills to the mayor ! then to the Governers office, and also to the local senator, and Philhealth
Even if I don't expect to get much MONEY from PhilHealth, I want to have them anyway to assist with checking bills.

Now I'm wondering if I'll be able to get enough pain meds in the PI. I have osteoarthritis. I can take some pain during the day but I take Tramadol (a synthetic opiate) along with acetaminophen to get a decent sleep at night. That's in addition to Celebrex, an antiinflammatory. Anyone know a good doctor in the Tagbilaran area?

I have wondered about pain meds here. If you are seriously injured do they give you something like morphine? Say you get run over by a jeepney and then a few stray dogs attack you and then another jeepney runs you over. Will they then give you something stronger then ibuprofen?

You have to pretty much be dying of cancer to get prescribed morphine and any pharmacists I know won't give it to you without a prescription.  Your mileage will vary.

Tramadol
along with acetaminophen
in addition to Celebrex,

All of these are readily available and I have managed to get each of these without a prescription but things seem to be tightening up so your mileage will vary.

Tramadol 50 mgm is available at Generics Pharmacy at 4-5 pesos each.

I too am glad to see tramadol is available. I use it for my arthritis as well. Does it require a prescription?

Guy, I take Tramadol HCL 50mg daily. I was able to buy a generic substitution in Cebu City showing my prescription bottle to the Pharmacist. I asked for my exact type she said Mercury Drug did not carry that item. The sub worked well as a pain reliever but had a slight side effect not felt from my original med.

I only know Cebu but would think you could find both in Bohol

I looked if I had any leftover as Chris may know what I was given it did say Tramadol HCL 50mg but was a cap not a tab as I get here in the States.

As Chris said the cost is modest I may have paid a bit more than 5p can't remember.

Not a pain killer but a Beta blocker for my heart... Went to a Watson's and asked the price... I was given both the brand and generic price... Why back at the end of the month and asked for a month's supply... They asked if I had a prescription... I've got a copy of one from Canada at home... They asked if this was a maintenance dose... Yes it is... Here you go sir! Enjoy!!!
