I think most people would like Durian if someone brought them the finished product, ready to eat without having had to smell the outside of the fruit. I lived in Beijing for five years, and that is excellent advice. For some reason, I recall seeing a Manchurian model, very far above my pay grade, "cruising" a street clothes market, in summer, with jaws of every nationality just dropping in her wake!
