Popular Post OnMyWay Posted April 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted April 6, 2023 Ok, I have a commendable with some annoying at the same time! We have a new lab at Harbor Point Mall called High Precision. The neighbors have been saying mostly good things but a few frustrations too. I decided to try it for my periodic thyroid blood test because they are a bit cheaper than my usual place. I arrive at 1230 yesterday and note the sign on the door that says closed for the holidays starting the 6th. So I asked the receiving lady if the tests will be ready today. Yes sir. I paid and go to the back to have my blood drawn. The girl gets the blood and says "They told you there will be a delay for the results, right?" No, they told me it would be ready today. "No sir, it will be the 12th". Of course I was a bit upset at their miscommunication and perhaps lack of training. That is not annoying local behavior, just a mistake. Here is the commendable, funny, and slightly annoying part. As I turned to leave, one of the girls says "Sir, here is your 500" while holding up a p500 note. I give her a puzzled look??? "You dropped it". OK, I am a bit careless sometimes and thought maybe I did drop it. In fact, I had a p500 note shoved in my shirt pocket but it was still there. So I thanked them and off I went. Later, I am waiting while getting an oil change. Phone rings and it is the lab. "Sir, regarding the incident today". I thought I was about to get an apology and/or my lab tests were finished. "Sir, someone claimed the p500 and after reviewing the CCTV, we confirmed that it is theirs. Can you return it?" Uh, you are closed until the 11th and I am certainly not coming back there now. "It's ok sir, if you could just drop it off next time you are at the mall". I already spent it so I will see if I can get a cash advance from my yard guy, like I do for him once in a while. 1
Forum Support Popular Post Tommy T. Posted May 2, 2023 Forum Support Popular Post Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) Last Saturday, our power went out at about noon. We thought it was a regional event and thought nothing about it. Then, later, as it got dark and stormy, L went out and asked some neighbours if they had power.... They all said yes! Shit!!! So we called up a guy who has been our on-call electrician/plumber if he could come out and try to fix this. This is after 6pm and it is stormy and rainy. He said, "Yes, I can be there but it may take a while since I am far away..." We told him that was fine. So he shows up way after dark, there is rain, lightning and thunder... And he and his helper trouble-shooted the problem (ants destroyed the insulation underground causing a short circuit!!!) and rigged up a temporary fix so we could power our refer, freezer, air/con, TV etc. This is after 8pm! He asked for 1,500 and we were happy to pay him that. We have a great relationship with this guy so, when we need service, he is right here. Not the cheapest in town, but reliable and he does quality work.... We are delighted to have this guy work for us... A very positive experience! Addendum to this.... He returned on Sunday afternoon - with his family still in their church clothes - and completed a quality, temporary fix to our power supply that will last until we install a better system within the next few weeks. It is wonderful for us to have a guy (or him and his team) to come out here in shitty weather at night to fix our problem. We have called on him a few other times when plumbing issues arose. He does quality work, seems to know mostly what he is doing and listens when we have alternate suggestions to his solutions. He also even has his own tools!!!!!
