Anyone here whom was in a mall in a western country recently? If so how would one compare the cell fone use to here in say SM

I have not been in a US mall in over 25 years but enjoy the beautiful malls, culture & people of the Philippines every year.

This is the mall I used to hang out in on the weekends in the 70s....No Cell Phone service....

If you visited our local mall here in the US you would think you were in Asia. Often times more Asian Americans than other ethnic groups.

I feel old for saying this ... but society in Australia is making cell phones a need rather than a want. With QR codes to order and check in for flights and even to use as a credit card, Banking apps, parking apps just to name a few. Without sounding too much like a guy holding a sign standing in the middle of the business district saying "the end is nigh".

I think mobile phones are controlling the attention of the majority of the population, if your device takes up 5 hours of a day then what is more precious than time, how much is that worth. 

I remember reading a quote that "the items you own end up owning you". 

I feel this quote is an apt description of the humble cell phone.
