Call me bubba Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 There are some rare occasions when you actually have to make a phone call back to your home country from your phone number in your home country.Usually this occurs when dealing with financial companies or credit cards where calling from your home phone number is part of the process for verifying who you are. yes your right that "you may need a US based phone number" .if the bank you use knows that your no longer in the us , you will need to call them anyway. so they can "reverify" that you are who you are and that the charges that your making are yours these ## were made as a time saver(reduce employee costs) been away for 13 plus years and never actually needed to call from a US based # althou they do "require" a US number in case .., My present bank(usaa) they know that I am not in the US(conus) and have been very friendly&helpful over the years . it may pay to locate a "friendly"bank that will allow you to continue being a customer
