No wonder Philippines has a diabetes problem

We were talking about "diet", what people eat.   Of course it is obesity, and yes white rice is a huge contributor.    Diabetes is the 5th leading cause of death in the Philippines, and given all the "fatties" live in the western world I wonder what is going on (btw, China is number 1 in the world per capita with diabetes)

Rice base diet has not change.  But the new GMO varieties are high in sugar and the subsidized price as per government policy is a major factor in the substantial increase in consumption and diabetes.

Also, many of these countries have been fine eating rice as a staple for centuries, but when you add in sodas, McD, highly processed foods, etc., it all heads south quickly.

Yes, and if you try it, you will feel the difference.

When I eat hot fresh cooked rice, I often feel sleepier than the reheated frigerated rice.

And to sit around and playing Tongets, drinking Red Horse with shots of Tonduay while nibbling on Pork Belly.

Where's PacMan when you need him..

Sella basmati is the best option for rice, I'll take this though:

I'd still take a few scoops of rice before having oats with my lechon.

Everybody knows what this is right?

Just add in a few of those healthy red hotdogs & an additional cup of brown sugar and boom, happy family.

I have been known to enjoy a gin and tonic on a hot muggy night.  My wife gave one of our workers a can of tonic water.  He says to her; "Maam, something is wrong with the water, it is bitter".  Wife, who does not drink, says to me; "They forgot to put the sugar in the soda." :hystery:

And how about the hotdog on a skewer with colored marshmallows on the end.  :89:
