Hmmmmmm......I have been wondering the same thing these days :)

 

Well, you don't count Mike. You, like me, are waiting for the next big thing ! And when it comes, and it surely will,

you'll be off and running and laughing, and giving absolutely no thought to the reasons why she seems to love you.

It's enough that she does.

You think the guys who viewed this o.p. will lie awake pondering the question I asked ? Nope, not for any longer

than it takes to read it or answer it. And so it should be. It was, after all, just a bit of fun.

I spent quite some time getting myself trim before I flew to Cebu to meet my skype girlfriend (Mimi) in person and she said I looked bad cause I was too thin for her liking. Not cuddly enough or something. Oh well at least gaining weight is easy

 

LOL constant discussion between SAO and myself.  I'm fit, I deployed with special forces to AFG, nut jobs that they are, but I have a fitness regimen because of that.  She's always trying to fatten me up!  First day we met, she commented on the fact that I have no fat on me, this from a woman that is 4'11 and 40kg when she's dripping wet.  She does object to me smoking though, not in a direct way, but lets just say there's not a lot of lovin' unless I've cleaned my teeth and had a shower :nudie:

I know I'm being provocative here, and I admit I like to stir you guys up a bit ( you're so stirable uppable )

but I am interested ( not to say fascinated ) by your responses.

 

Now, considering that most of us have one or two, perhaps all of the following -

 

1. Old

2. Very high forehead ( bald ! )

3. Overweight ( can only check out your equipment in a mirror )

4. Plastic teeth

5. Poor eyesight

6. Hearing deficit

7. Tired

8. Alcohol dependant

9. Smoker

10. Varicose veins

 

I can lay claim to over half of those things. I don't expect to grace a pin up calendar anytime soon.

 

Now, I know that physical attributes aren't everything, but come on !!

 

When she first saw you, this healthy, young, cute, energetic, lively filipina

Did she think " WOW, what a gorgeous man"

or did she think "Matandang Mayaman Madaling Mamatay" ?

 

Come on now, be honest. Lets get real !

 

If you were such a filipina would you fall in love with you ?

 

Damn, I think I am quite a catch because I only have disease 3, 6 and 7!   :hystery:

 

I have been here a year now and have learned a little bit about the culture.  It is very true that many are looking for a foreigner, but the reasons are many.  It is not only about money.  Oftentimes, the men here have let them down, and they are open to the foreigner option.  There also can be family pressures, but that does not mean that they will be any less devoted to you.  In fact, it may be a positive for you.  This is not based on my personal relationship experience but based also on what Abby has told me about friends, neighbors and relatives.

 

I agree with Dave about the foreigners who can't find a good woman.  They are most likely not good prospects themselves, and a good Filipina is not likely to accept them.  I don't mean physically or age, but just not good guys.  There are plenty of those over here, sorry to say.

Mate I know it was all in fun but you know what?  In my experience the Filipina has kills the Western woman every time.  They still care about things that matter:  Family, and friends first and materiel possessions come a very poor third.  I have many friends that have lived in PI for 20+ years.  I'll tell a story, about a German mate of mine. He went there with money in the 70's, married a Filipina,  and then due to bad investments, they ended up destitute just before their first child was born.  When he was born they had no money, all they could feed him was was sugared water.  You know what? She stuck by him, they struggled for a few years but got a break due to Italian (his mum is Italian) to some loophole in the Italian back pay with regards to unemployment.  They now own 4 hairdressing/beauty salons in Angeles and drive a Merc.  Yeah, admittedly Ate (Aunty) Dee is an exceptional lady and she looks after me like I'm a wayward son  and is always on my back to marry SAO (despite the fact Dee is Pamangan and SAO is from the Visaysas; historical contempt there - they are like mother and daughter) and often gives me a dressing down because I haven't yet.  In my experience, the last thing on a Filipinas mind is the biggest flat screen, the nicest car, or the biggest house; a good heart and the ability to educate her/your children will get you everywhere.  We used to have a saying in the RAN:  Philippines for love, Thailand for sex - not really true, I have more than a few mates that have built wonderful lives in Thailand, but due to the nature of the way we, as westerners have treated SE Asia, it's becoming much harder there due to expectations and the fact it's much better known. 

 

I guess what I'm trying to say is just don't settle for the first one that comes along.

What really sucks is trying to learn Bisaya (Cebuano) and Tagalog at the same time!! been many interesting reduce the locals to tears in hilarity mixing the two languages up moments because of linguistic faux pas.. Rice, is a good example, but I'll leave you to work that one out yourself ;) !!

Classic Dry, you're the Man!  Most of our concerns was about the Filipina and your OP comes out smacking

us expats right on the ass.  What a way to look at ourselves in the mirror.....it's very thought provoking OP.  

 

My mirror tells me that I have 7 out of 10 items you listed.  I would like to add a couple more factors that may

affect us: senior citizen moments and ED (erectile dysfunction).  At age 63, the ED part is only minor for me.

Judy knows how to push my buttons (G spots)......he, he.  My senior moments usually occur playing doubles,

going to the wrong side or forgetting the damn score.  

 

I think it really depends on us male animals to take the initiative no matter how we look like.  And if the Filipina

approaches you first, our immediate response is a make or break deal.  Perhaps a resident expert here could

teach us how to date again, in spite of our physical look and as in my case, extreme shyness.  

 

Could it be simply a warm smile to break the ice, your gentle manner and social etiquette?  At least you could

show her you washed your hands after scratching your butt and nuts......he, he.

 

I truly think the chemistry between us and the younger Filipina starts when she really gets to know your heart.  

And when that happens, you're in for a ride of your lifetime.

I am about to find that out.  Looks like my pangasawhonon will get her visa before Christmas.  Honestly, I do worry about how the change will affect her, me, and our relationship.  There's only one way to answer those questions.

I asked her about some other guys who were older and uglier than me. I said: If you weren't with me would you go out with him. Answer was Yes. Made me feel like all my handsomeness was for nothing until she explained that its attitude, heart and financial stability (not necessarily wealth) that is more attractive to a woman than looks. Its the same in North America except the ladies there add looks and age into the equation because they can. (They have more options).

 

So, you think with my crossed eyes, ster-ster-stutter, habitual nose picking, bum and crotch scratching

If I have "RICH' tattooed on my forehead, I should still be able to pull a cute, young thing ?

If the second that's understandable. It was similar in our home countries back when women had problem supporting themselves by work.

 

Beside the golddiggers and scammers most Filipinas seem to be satisfied with finansial security and a husband who loves them. Specialy Filipinas, who have been left with kid/kids by a irresponcible young Pinoy, LOOK FOR OLDER, because they expect older are more responcible in average. It's rather common Filipinas still in their 20ths look for 45 or so or OLDER...

Concerning your list I'm sorry I'm only (rather) old, but some SLIMMER than many Filipinas like  :boohoo:  :lol:    because it's common they see fat a sign of wealth   (=affording to eat enough to become fat   :)

That's some funny, because if looking e g at Americans there it's common

RICH are SLIM exersising

and POOR (compartingly for the country) are FAT by eating junk food   :hystery:

The later start happening in the Philippines too by rather poor become fat by e g eating some popular  very unhealthy chinese chips junk food    :(
