Looking into Philippine law is a maze but it is in most place. I don't fully understand the process, it dates back to the Marco days I'm sure but the president can basically make a law by writing a memo. Its called something else and I don't know all the requirements or the process. That makes it very hard to find all the law on any issue.
Its called a Presidential Decree and sometimes the PI legislature will pass a law to ammend that. I bet that gets interesting at times with the back and forth that could take place.

One aspect of the book I enjoyed that others don't cover too often was the flirting section, and how he managed to get not one, but two phone numbers in front of his girl friend. :th_thsmilies-29057:Now, as I suggested, it was very generic as to many other reads out there and short, but I certainly would love to read his more in debt books, say intermediate expat training. I enjoy his writing style, his bluntness and his southern charm that comes through on every page...as though the writer is actually across a table talking to you.So, while a bit all over and short, I would recommend it to a beginner if the price was right, and he had no access to any internet or any forum....just for the style of the writer.
Thanks inspector for both of your reviews. As for the two girls, I got a third one from those two. I have many flaws one I don't posses is dishonesty. I'm not going to do anything behind my woman's back. That could be a flaw too but its me and no matter how far I run, I'm always there. :woohoo:

More importantly, this thread was started as a noble cause and Rusty went through all the protocols for Boss Man's approval. Although I have not ordered his E-book yet, but when I do, I hope I would get an autographed copy. No.....well OK -- then let's just have a major blow out Rusty, with endless pitchers of Mojo and some brown sugar on the side!Thirsty -- Jake
Jake, When we get to share that Mojo, I'll autograph your copy. :woohoo: I have never had that so I'm looking forward to it.

Rusty, I assume you never had a Mojo because I am certain that you had some brown sugar already. Maybe on your next edition, you could expand on the favorite beverage the locals consume in various provinces. Hey Inspector, help me out shipmate. Do you remember those cold pitchers filled with crushed ice and all kinds of liquor? I am dying for the recipe. Thirsty still -- Jake

Oh crap Jake, the stories I could tell with Mojo induced Navy fun back in my day.BTW, they still serve it in Angeles City, had quite a few 3 years ago while visiting some retired shipmates that live there. Haha...just googled the margarita station in AC, where we would drink them...and their web site has the recipe. :woohoo:No wonder I had so much fun! Vodka 1 Shot Gin 1 Shot Rum 1 Shot Whiskey 1 Shot Orange Juice 3 Shots Pineapple Juice 3 Shots San Miguel Beer 2 Shots Sprite 3 Shots Grenadine Splash I did need to take an antacid while drinking these things though, the acid reflux now at my age is unbearable with the OJ and Pineapple. ...hahaha, see?...the healthy things are not always so kind. :woohoo: Edited by Jake

BTW, someone said the book would be good for someone that doesn't have internet. You can't buy the book if you don't have internet :)Its true that you can learn a lot on the forums. The book provides information, in a concise format. No need to wade through all the wrong BS that people post nor the arguments that always come in forums. There is a LOT of wrong information on forums and much of it is intentional, like the police bust. If you just read the forums, you might get the impression that the young hooker girl going to the bathroom and then the police show up at the door claiming the girl is under-age. The police then shake you down. Geesh so many people are telling that as if it happened to them personally. Webmaster do that just to get people to link to them. Yeah it happens but its not common. So sure, you can spend a year to six months getting that information. BUT, the book is designed for people that don't already know these things and well help weed out the false information out there. And how many places gleam about their perfect life in their ebook just to try to sell it. I don't do that. In fact, I spend a lot of time on the negative issues. The book is to reduce the time. When I first decided to come, I was lost, I didn't even know the word expat. And many many of the people thinking of it don't either.

Often friends who have Internet will have friends who do not have a computers or those who only use one for email, so the computer savvy friends who do, are often willing to help the ones who don't. I have a few such friends who only seem to use computers for email and maybe yahoo messenger and that I helped join this forum and they have rarely been on the forum to learn, so when they needs info they usually emails me and while I used to answer them all, I now refer them to sections on this forum they need to read and if they do not follow up, then it is on them and I at least tried. I only have so many hours in the day. Also it seems to me that a lot of people who are not really computer savvy find it hard to navigate forums and they might buy a book so they do not have to spend the hours needed to navigate all the posts that have the info they need. Just look at this thread, it was about an Ebook and now has a lot of posts about guns that many people reading might not be at all interested in, so they might stop reading once it went to the gun posts. I have allowed and contributed in the gun posts because Uzi started them out with a bold statement saying something was totally wrong in the book, and I have found most things are possible in the Philippines even if they are illegal (I am not talking about the foreign ownership of guns being illegal because IMO law trumps any application and no where in the law did it list being a citizen). One such thing that is totally illegal in the Philippines is prostitution, it is just that it is called by another name to get around it being illegal and I am pretty sure we all know that the bars and other establishments who promote prostitution just pay the right people to look the other way. In the Philippines a person does not have to be wrong to be wrong, or a person can get around most laws if they know the correct people or pay hefty fees. I believe that a person who will be new to the Philippines would get a lot from reading Rusty's Ebook, and some who do not frequent forums will surely gain from reading it as well, and some who do read forums might even glean some knowledge and save some money because of the knowledge they gained. New people should read, read and read some more and ask questions on forums (if they can) to learn, if they do not wish to repeat the same mistakes that many of us had to learn by making them while we learned.

Well, the Margarita Station is a restaurant/bar/pool hall, not much in the way of a club despite it being at ground zero, Fields Avenue.....food is quite good there. I used to get a grilled cheese and egg drop soup quite often. I was dating a girl who worked in the SM mall for a while...never quite worked out. Waiting around for her to finish work was difficult...only so much poker I was able to play at the casino during the day. :whistling:Ended up dating a waitress that "almost" worked out, and then a older computer operator that I found out was a ex bar girl...yuck. Should of known quicker as all she wanted to do was go to Dr Holmes bar and seemed to know everybody. :lol:Place is fun, AC...many retired military guys, but for dating and finding a good girl...hard place to achieve this.
