Guy F. Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) Visited the local gun store in Tagbilaran, Bohol about 2 years ago. I asked about requirements to be a gun owner, specifically the need to be a Philippines citizen, provide proof of paying Philippines income tax and so on. They scoffed and said all that is needed is permission from the local police chief (presumably a letter). The place was decorated with graphics depicting all sorts of firearms, but the only kind available was a domestically manufactured pistol. I don't doubt that such local practices exist which is fine until the local police chief changes. It's not dissimilar to the Senior Citizens discount card which many foreigners have been able to obtain despite not being citizens - great until someone decides it's no longer great.
