Not sure what you mean. I understand the family system very well in the Philippines. 
Did i say that anybody was being selfish? I was merely pointing out that a lot of country folk rely on relatives in the city for cash when there is a problem.?

They do... but in my experience most families do rely on someone working in the city, or OFW, to send money. Just a fact of life in the Filipino economy.

I wouldn't say MOST.

But then neither of us (or anyone else ?) has stats for this.

We have a small pool but it is empty because we cannot buy enough bleach to keep the water safe.  Only the very small bottles are available and there is a limit on those.

There are sadly quite often exceptions to this, I know first hand of cases.

Which is why I said "but in my experience" ha ha  Every family, I know, that has a car - either has an OFW or a foreigner.
