Did I misinterpret the thread title, again? Once a sailor, always a perverted sailor. I read you lima-charlie (loud and clear) and I'm proud you're maintaining our demented status as a tin can sailor. Flank speed ahead!
Hey Steve Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 3 of 6 of my wife's family members (brothers and sisters) are perpetually broke/poor. They all have inherited from their deceased parents 3 hectar plots each and the 3 poor ones (even after harvest time came and went) did not pay their taxes, soooo the other 3 including my wife need to foot the bill (evenly) to avoid all the legal crap that would ensue. It's not much, but my wife's Ate makes sure they get real embarrassed when they are bailed out---yet again.
Popular Post chris49 Posted March 7, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2016 I don't throw money into an otherwise empty pot. But we put food on the table for around 10 people, adults and kids most days. A 50 kg bag of rice was only lasting 3 weeks, so sadly we have to monitor that now. We also pay the Church donations which come round frequently and little contributions and collections which seem to come around...eg donation to Barangay for festive occasions. I try not to show anything, but I'm sure my attitude does show. Gina is on my side, so now and then we will not buy the daily food, and out of the blue they will put something on the table. We pay for emergencies if it's genuine. We also pay indirectly things like petrol (if they use Gina's bike), medicines, usually minor, but we keep a small stock. Daily merienda's and refreshments, of course.
Popular Post Sander Martin Posted March 7, 2016 Popular Post Posted March 7, 2016 I think it depends on the family. If your SO is from a poor family, then yes mostly likely most of the family will treat you as a walking ATM. I have never been asked for money and i wouldnt give any unless i was 100% sure that the person needs and deserves it. I have been lucky. My fiances sister and brother both work for call centers and earn a decent wage, her other sister works on cruiseboats in the northern hemesphere. My fiance used to work for a major US based banks call center before i knocked her up. They all help their mom and each other when needed (mostly give money to mom). Even when im staying with them in Iloilo, never have i been asked for any funds - not even for food etc. Ofcorse i dont abuse it. When her mom visits the market i give her some money and a shoping list on that i want (or go with her to help carry the food back), but so do everyone else who lives in the house. When we go out to eat we either chip in or the person who invited others pays.

The only time we have been asked for money is when a large amount for "show money" was needed. For Visas or things of that nature. It has always been repaid.
Sander Martin Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Hopefully no1 gets offended. I also think it depends alot about the age gap between the guy and girl. If you have say a 60-70yo foregner and a 20yo girl, then you know the relationship is about money. And aslong as both of them are happy with the agreement then its ok. Most of you guys are aged in the bracked that you have/had/could have daughters in the 20s. Im sure you wouldn't like your baby girl bringing home a man that could be her grandpa. I feel its not different here, but because of the poverty alot of parents would not complain here, as they just see the older man a meal ticket for their kid and them. i might be one of the few guys that actually has a Filipina fiance that is older than them hahaha. Just my two cents, dont kill me.

Well I can't answer for all but I will say what I have said before, any Relationship (whatever the age difference is) is Always about Money

It only makes sense Sander. The younger the wife, the younger the brothers and sisters, the more younger nieces and nephews who are in school, get sick, need shoes (and phones and Ipads etc.). Common sense and logic shouldn't be offensive, uncomfortable maybe, but not offensive.
Sander Martin Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 You are right Jack, but theres a difference in both chipping in or one person just living off the other. Now like i said if you are happy with that, then everything is good.
